Animeland Wasabi is Coming
/Animeland Wasabi is back, running from 2/28 - 3/2, and this year they have grown quite a bit. First off Animeland Wasabi has moved hotels to the Crowne Plaza at 1-70 and Chamber, which is actually the hotel they used several years ago when they were just starting out. This means that they have a much larger area to state things, and a hotel staff that is used to dealing with conventions of this magnitude. We can also expect an easier place to navigate along with, hopefully, more clearly labeled panel rooms.
What Events to Expect?
Technosabi - A late night event, Technosabi will "finalize your fantasy" with Electric de Chocobo. Lasting after 2:00 AM you will dance to the sounds of DJ Ryan Kore, show off costumes, and more. Convention attendee's gain entrance with their badges and non-attendee's can buy stand alone tickets.
Animeland University (AU) - Do you want to know more about the many wonders that are provided to us, the general public, by the anime and game industry? Then head down to AU information table to get a full schedule of AU events and earn your Animeland University Degree.
SuperCon 2K Series - What sort of geek con is it without video games! This year the SuperCon 2K Series is going to put on one hell of a show. Providing a showcase for both the PS4 and Xbox One and their agmes games. There will also be raffles, their own panels, competitive gaming and more.
Maid Cafe - Animeland Wasabi is presenting a Maid Cafe this year. For those that don't know what that is, think about it, it will come to you. There will be Maids & Butlers serving drinks, desserts, and hosting "delightful games".
I am sure that they will have more then that, but it is a nice taste of what is to come.
Guests!
This year Animeland Wasabi is scheduled to have 38 guests this year. Obviously I have not going to go over all of them here as they are conveniently listed on their guest page. But I will go over a few of the bigger ones.
Initially I had information for Jeremy Shada, but sadly he had to cancel due to personal reasons. But they do have someone coming in the stead.
Another voice from the popular show Adventure Time, the fiery Flame Princess, has been confirmed for Animeland Wasabi this year. Jessica DiCicco has been making a name for her self doing younger sounding voices. When she started her career it was for a four-year-old cartoon bear. The voice was so good that the agent at Disney was sure that he would meet a 4-year old and not an adult women. Since they she has voiced Selina in Winx Club, Patches in Pound Puppies, Olette in Kingdom Hearts II. Jessica even received a Daytime Emmy nomination for the role of Malina in The Emperor's New School.
John DiMaggio - Known for roles such as Jake the Dog, Dr Drakken form Kim Possible, Bender from Futurama, and Marcus Fenix from Gears of War. He is a war veteran of the Voice Acting industry.
There is a limited Adventure Time Experience Pass to meet both Jessica (I think) and John, and as of this writing it does not loo to be sold out.
Teryl Rothery - Probably most popular for her long running role as Dr. Janet Fraiser in Stargate SG-1. Teryl Rothery has played a ton of characters over the past several years. She has been in Exosquad, Ranma 1/2 and even Dragon Ball Z. Most recently she has been working on the show Arrow as Jean Loring.
And there you have it, Animeland Wasabi is setup for great things this year. They do have some issues from last year that they need to make sure are fixed, but with a new location and some new staff I have high hopes for this years convention. See you there.
