Overwatch Uprising Event has Started

Overwatch has started a new seasonal event called "Overwatch Uprising". Taking place before the fall of Overwatch this event takes place on Kings Row during an Omnic uprising. You can read the primer to the event in the most recent comic here. From the looks of the trailer this looks very akin to the Junkenstein's Monster event from Halloween. Here is the teaser for the event.

So there you have it. So you have until May 1st to get your fill of this event, so get to it!. The world could always use more heroes.

Blizzard Supports "Make a Wish" with a Fel Kitten

Every so often (probably more than I think), Blizzard comes up with a new pet that they sell in order to benefit charities. And this year they have created a new being of pure evil and chaos to fill your stocking with, Mischief the Fel Kitten. Now normally I would have probably been pretty lazy and just let this pass without writing about it, again. But this year I really like the way they are doing it. First you have the digital version of Mischief, which is pretty normal. But now their is also a plush version. So you can pick one for your character or one for the stocking, or both. Just keep in mind you only have until the end of the year to snag one.

Ah, I also can't forget the wonderful video Blizzard made to push this little cat. It calls back to my child in a way I think many of you will recognize.

Overwatch - New Hero

Overwatch - New Hero

Overwatch came out just under 2 months ago, and it has admittedly been the game I have spent the most time on this summer. As such you can imagine how excited I am to see the newest hero get announced. Coming soon to Overwatch, Ana! Ana is a sniper that can both head shot the red team and heal their team mates from their sniper nest.

Overwatch Review

Overwatch Review

After over 2 years of waiting, Overwatch has finally arrived. Coming from the remains of the “Titan” project, Overwatch is a new entry in the Team-Oriented Role-Based FPS genre. Man, that is what, TORBFPS? Note to self, find better acronym for this. Anyway, until this came the most prosperous game in the this category was Team Fortress 2. And while Team Fortress 2 is still going to be sitting comfortably on its hat filled throne, we finally at least have a game to give it a run for its money.

Overwatch is LIVE!

Overwatch is LIVE!

Today Blizzard took the Overwatch servers live. Ok, they took Overwatch live at 12:00 AM GMT on 05/24/2016, but that was like 40 minutes ago here in Denver. And while I have not had a chance to actually step in the game, I did want to point out something interesting that I found on Eurogamer.  Apparently in different parts of the world giant Overwatch action figures have appeared.

In Hollywood, CA twitter user RuzGofDi snapped photos of the Tracer box, Mamytwink found Genji in Paris, and @osevno snapped one of Pharah in Bexco, Busan.

Overwatch - Open BETA Aftermath

Yesterday was the end of the Overwatch open beta. Thousands (guessing) of players jumped and got what was potentially their first taste of Blizzard's first FPS. And it appears to have gone over well. In order to gently let us newbs get a feel for the game you have a standard training tutorial, and then you have team vs AI. Here you are set with a human team vs a set of AI opponents with a set difficulty. Once you have had your feel of the AI, then you can go for some good old human vs human action.

Hearthstone on Android? There goes my Productivity...

Blizzard has finally done it. They have placed the final nail in the coffin of my productivity. They have released Hearthstone for Android. So now I can play the game from any where that I have internet. Who knows, next thing I might actually win a game. Head on over to the Google Play Store and say goodbye to getting things done.

StarCraft II: Legacy of the Void

You know what StarCraft II has been missing? Some single player Protoss love. The Terrans and the Zerg has both gotten their time in the sun, but not the Protoss. Thankfully that has finally changed with the announcement of "Starcraft II: Legacy of the Void" in which the Protoss aim to take back their homeworld of Aiur that was lost to the Zerg so many years ago. But there is more at play here, and the whole of creation may stand at the brink of destruction unless things change.

10 Years of WoW

A decade is a long time for anything to last. Most things start to fade at the 4 year mark. While not completely forgetting these things do tend to wane in popularity. Therefore for World of Warcraft to still have 7.4 million subscribers (source) after 10 years is pretty amazing. In order celebrate this a new documentary called "World of Warcraft: Looking for Group Documentary" was recently released. Here they talk about the inception of MMO's that spawned the idea of WoW, the pitfalls they ran into, and what they do to try and please the players. It is just over an hour, but is pretty entertaining.

Overwatch Annouced

For the first time in 17 years Blizzard announced their first actual new franchise, Overwatch. A game set 60 years in the future and 30 years after a robot uprising. When the robot uprising over whelmed individual government armies they formed the world wide peacekeeping force, Overwatch. Here is the trailer to set the stage.
