Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon Announced!

Nintendo has been having fun with the 20th anniversary of Pokémon. They have given away cards with a free level 100 Mew for the 3DS games. They have had the first Pokémon moviee on the official Pokémon site streaming. And now, during the recent Nintendo Pokémon Direct they have announced the next game in this massive series, Pokémon Moon and Pokémon Sun.

If this is not good enough for you, Nintendo is also releasing the original Pokémon games, Pokémon RedPokémon Blue, and Pokémon Yellow (Ok, that one is original-ish). These games are now available in the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS. A new feature in these digital versions will be access to the Pokémon Bank. These means you can go and catch the original 150, and then transfer them to Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon. Sounds like a completionist dream to me.

Pokémon 20th Anniversary Continues

20 years ago Gameboy owners started their mission to catch them all. You had the choice of red or blue and Bulbasaur, Charizard, or Squirtle. And then you were off. There were 151 monsters of amazing variety and we chased after them with vigor. 20 years later we have had over 30 Pokémon games, 18 years of Ash Ketchum staying 10 years old, and tons of toys. To celebrate Nintendo has announced a new New 3DS box set that comes with Pokémon Red and Blue and two face plates so you can customize as you see fit. This is set to release on February 27th. But that is not all they have planned.

I'm back now from NDK, and, as you may have read here, I had a great time.  That being sad, what did I find to do with the time that I had for the remainder of the week.  I did manage to spend Labor Day at home, and therefore, got to enjoy my free time a lot.

Reading: In the whole week, I read about 5 pages of Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon.  I only have a few weeks left of my intense running program (training for a half-marathon), and then I should have my lunch time free for reading again.

Playing: Almost all of my video game time this week was spent going through my StreetPass on Nintendo 3DS.  Nan Desu Kan is a great place to meet people because there is a huge crossover between anime fans and Nintendo fans.

Watching: On Monday, I binge watched all of the episodes of My Love Story!! that were available on Hulu (which is a few weeks behind the CrunchyRoll release schedule).  I love the show so much, primarily because Takeo and Yamato are such huge dorks and don't know what to do with themselves.  This is another case of "not your typical shoujo" and I strongly recommend it.  I also found out the Food Network changed out the collection of Good Eats episodes that area available on Netflix streaming, and have been watching those too.

That's all that I've got for this week

The Professional Gamer - May 16, 2015

Hi folks!  I'm just back from the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, but have yet to put together my summary article.  Look for that to be posted in the next few days.  What else have I been doing?  Read on to find out!

Playing: With travel this past week, I didn't spend much time playing video games.  Mostly, I was trying to keep up with an influx of StreetPasses in Toronto.

Reading: Aside from the comics I purchased at TCAF, which I will review later, I finished reading Frankenstein while I was on vacation.  The book is interesting, especially as it contrasts to much of the typically cultural understanding of the story.  The Creature is very different in the original text, especially in his motivations.  If you are a fan of gothic horror, I recommend that you pick up this classic to read it for yourself.

Watching: Once I returned from TCAF, I tuned my local Hulu box to Steven Universe.  At this point, I've watched about 30 episodes, and am nearing the end the what is available on Hulu.  I'm really enjoying the show so far, and kinda embarrassed about how invested I've become in some of the minor characters.  Anyways, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the series soon.

That's all I've got for now.  I'll be working over the weekend to get my summary TCAF article posted.  Then, I've got to read and review a huge stack of comics and books to read and review.  I'm excited, but also rather daunted at this proposition.  Wish me luck!

Hey everyone! We had a great time at ComicFest / StarFest. Then went back to work with crippling deadlines. Which means, I'm well behind on getting our interviews out on podcast.  Look for those in the next few weeks. This also means I haven't spent a whole lot of time with enjoying myself in the evenings. Regardless, here's what I've been up to this week.

The mantra of the pokémon trainer has always been to catch them all. This is not always an easy task. Thankfully, every so often, Nintendo tosses us a bone. From now until the end of Halloween you can get a free Supersized Pumpkaboo if you have Pokémon X / Y. Just check for a gift online before launching your game.

Once recieved you will be able to pick up your new friend on any Poké Center you come across. Enjoy!

Need a 3DS?

Need a 3DS?

Nintendo loves the 3DS, and who can blame them. It is an awesome system, it has fun games, it brings people together via the Mii Plaza, and it is easy to skin to get new people buy it (or people who already have it to get new ones). With that said Nintendo has announced not 1, but 3 new 3DS designs.
