Stan Lee Coming to DCC 2016

A few years ago many of us were disappointed to hear the Stan Lee had to cancel his Denver Comic Con appearance. Well, those dark days are over and he is now scheduled to appear at DCC 2016! He will be appearing for all three days (June 17 - June 19) and will have a panel on June 18th in Main Events.

This is actually better then the original 2013 appearance were he was only slotted for one day. This year is looking good! Excelsior!

Denver Comic Con - More Guests

You think Denver Comic Con would be happy with having guests such as Stan Lee and Wil Wheaton. I mean they are in no B list celebrities. But the folks putting on the Denver Comic Con know we want more then that. They are working hard to give us the best con they can. As such Denver Comic Con announced two new guests today. The first is George Perez. He has written for both DC and Marvel creating wonderful properties such as Teen Titans, Wonder Women, Justice League of America and Crisis on Infinite Earths. He is also a board member of the super team, The Hero Initiative. Now while they may not be a team that monitors the planet to save it from nefarious plots, they are doing important work. They provide financial aid to comic creators that need emergency medical aid, help paying for life essentials, and help them get back into paying work.  Talk about super heroes for the comic community.

The second guest they announced, captain of the USS Excelsior himself, George Takei. For those of you that don't know (and shame on you) he started his career in the original Star Trek as the helmsmen of the USS Enterprise. He has been in a number of sci-fi and fantasy movies and TV shows since then, but more recently he has done a new musical called Allegiance. Allegiance is an "epic story of love, family and heroism during the Japanese American internment". Something that hits home for Mr. Takei. He has also written a book that details his experiences and rise in social media. The book is called "Oh Myyy" and can be purchased for Kindle, Nook, and iDevice. Look forward to seeing them both starting May 31.

Denver Comic Con Guests Confirmed

Have you already purchased your 3 Day pass to Denver Comic Con? Good, glad to hear it. Since you have your pass to the halls the geekdom built you will probably want to know whom you will see there. You already know about Stan Lee, but who else will you see?

The first guest, that will hopefully be able to show this year, is Wil Wheaton. Many of you know he was supposed to show up last year but due to some last minute schedule conflicts he had to cancel.

Denver Comic Con Attracted Geeks in Mass

Even the Storm Trooper liked Denver Comic Con.To say the first year of Denver Comic Con was a success is an understatement. Today the Denver Post reported that, for its very first year, Denver Comic Con had 27,700 attendees. This is the second highest inaugural weekend for a convention next to New York Comic Con which had 32,000. They only beat by a paltry 4,300 people. Yes, with these sort of numbers I am going to view that as paltry. NDK only had 10,000 people. Sure they have an attendance cap, but this number did not hit it. Thanks to this grand success we can expect an even larger Comic Con here in Denver next year when they return to the Denver Convention Center on May 31 - June 2. Denver Comic Con will feature the one, the only, Stan "The Man" Lee. Here is looking forward to another great year.
