Daku Con Incoming
/Wow, can you believe it is already November? And with the second to last month of the year comes the last (or at least the last I am aware of) convention of the season, Daku Con. What is Daku Con you might ask? Well it is a first year geek convention that is 18+. The convention is going to be held at the Radisson Hotel Denver Southeast (I-225 and S. Parker) on 11/10 - 11/12.
OK, so now you have the base details. Your first question may be, why an 18+ convention? To answer that question I am going to reference the front page of the Daku Con website.
Daku Con is a new way to con by going back to the old ways. When Con was for the older crowd and not just catering to the younger crowd and family focus. We feature Anime, Gaming, Comic books, 18+ art and much more a geek could want. With 18 + events and panels along with regular con entertainment. We here at Daku Con want to bring a fun and relax Convention environment to Colorado’s adult community.
OK, you know their goal, now what can you expect? Daku Con is planning to have your main staples for contests, that being an AMV Contest and Costume Contest. There are also six guests planned for the event. First off is FILTHY WARUMONO whom is known as a cosplayer, fashion model, musician, artist, designer, actor, drag queen and official Bishounen. I didn't know you get even be a professional in that last one. Next up is Steve Warky Nunez who is known as an award-winning Singer, Lyricist, Composer, Letterer, Editor, and Actor for Video Games, Film, Audio Books and more after that. Apparently he was even in Ant-Man as a homeless guy. Congrats on getting into the MCU Steve! After Steve they have Tiffany Grant listed. Tiffany is primarily a voice actor that is probably best known as Asuka in Neon Genesis Evangelion. In all Tiffany as voiced over 1700 episodes, OVA and movies ranging from Azumanga Daioh, Full Metal Alchemist, and Amagi Brilliant Park. Glad she is coming.
Ah, now for a veteran of the Denver anime convention scene, Jan Scott-Frazier. Jan worked in the anime industry for 13 years while actually in Japan. She has worked for the Japanese studio Artland, and was the first foreigner to do so. She then founded her own production company TAO Corporation LTD and then co-founded GENESIS Digital Publishing. She was been busy.
Daku Con also announced Fox E. Kim, a cosplay queen from Chicago's GeekHaus. She has worked heavily in the setting up events and fundraisers for the LGBT community. Lastly there is Karl "Uncle Yo" Custer. Uncle Yo has been to over 100 conventions and is stopping by on his farewell tour. Most likely we can see him giving ideas on how to create your own games or make your table top RPG sessions a bit better.
And there you have it. All 6 guests, the date, and the location. If you are interested in going then you can find tickets here. They are currently running $35 for the weekend and at the door will be $45. There are also VIP passes for $100 that will "get you early access to events, paneling, guest signings and dealer room, as well as free gifts." Hope to see you there!
