Nintendo Press Conference 6/5/12

Nintendo came locked and loaded to show off an array of new Wii U titles, as well as a few 3DS titles, for gamers everywhere.  I will admit, last year, I was weary of the Wii U and the Wii U gamepad.  Well, after getting to go to the press conference, I am now extremely excited about the Wii U and the new options the Wii U gamepad gives gamers everywhere.  Below you will find a list of some of the games that Nintendo showcased at their conference and a couple of bullet points for each title... Oh, and Zombi U looks awesome and my inner child totally wants to play Lego City Undercover.  Good job Nintendo, you now have me excited about the Wii U and looking forward to check them out on the E3 floor this week.

Now the USA gets the Love

So it was announced this morning that the US is going to get the limited edition Legend of Zelda 3DS bundle starting November 24th for $199. In addition to this we are alao getting a Super Mario Bros version to pick from. That is right, we get not one but two options to waste our hard earned money. Images of the systems will follow later, but which system do you prefer?

Why Not the USA?

So Nintendo of Europe made an awesome announcement today.  As of Novmber 25th 2011 you will be able to get a special limited edition The Legend of Zelda 3DS bundle that comes with Ocarina of Time to celebrate 25 years of Zelda.  Here is what it looks like:

So this leaves me with one, and only one question. Are people here in the US going to have to import this thing or will we get it here? As of yet, the import is your only option as there as been no annoucement on a US version. Fingers crossed that we hear something on a US version of this soon. Press release follows.

Huge Nintendo 3DS Price Cut

Now you can own one for the low price of $169 starting Aug. 12If you're like me and have already purchased a 3DS, you're a little disappointed that this happened so soon, only six months after launch.  It wouldn't feel so bad if the 3DS was reduced by $20 or so, but in reality the 3DS is being dropped from $249 all the way to $169, can you say a 32% price cut!?!  The effective date for the price cut is right around the corner, August 12, 2011.  Current owners, all is not lost.  Nintendo realizes this is a real bummer for people who already dropped $249 so as a "thank you" Nintendo is giving owners 20 free download-able games, hey at least it's better than nothing.  You can read about the price cut and the free download-able games in detail here.  Also, here is the official 20 free game announcement by Nintendo.

So if you were on the fence about picking up a 3DS, you shouldn't be come August 12, 2011.

Russian Song stuck in my head!

Recently I purchased a Nintendo 3DS so I could get Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and all the other awesome 3DS games that are on the horizon.  I never had a DSi, so I was amazed with all the games that are available to download via DSiware.  While there are hundreds to choose from, I just stuck with something I knew all too well, Tetris.

I downloaded Tetris Party Live to play some old school Tetris that I haven’t played since the original Game Boy.  When I first started playing, I remembered why I hadn’t played Tetris for such a long time, I suck at it.  Being the fool that I am, I decided I would try my hand at the multiplayer portion and compete against players around the world.  Yeah, I was taken behind the shack and was beaten, probably with a Tetris block.

Why am I relieving these painful memories?  Because after a few hours of putting those damn blocks in precise order, I started getting better and better at it.  I even went back online to play against players around the world and started winning!  My overall score continued to go up with each passing victory.

However, there is a downside to all this success.  When lying in bed at night I see Tetris blocks falling down and I’m trying to put them in order.  I hear that Russian song playing over and over in my head and even hear it speed up when I’m getting to close to losing the level!Da, da da da, da da da, da da da, da da da, da da da, da da da, daa daa!

But, it’s worth it.  For the first time, I’m actually pretty good at Tetris and I am having an enjoyable time playing it.  In fact, I have already clocked over 14 hours.  So, long live Tetris, even if that Russian song is set to replay in my head.
