The Professional Gamer - October 10, 2016

Hi Everyone! I don't have a lot to report on this week. With the change in recent change in weather, I ended up wanting to spend a large portion of my time with a bit of a comfort movie. In this case, The Lord of the Rings. For those who have been following me for awhile, you may be aware that I tend to read the books once a year. I'm currently reading The Two Towers and decided that watching the movies would be a good way to spend my evenings.

Also, I found a new anime series to watch for the fall season: Yuri!!! on Ice. The series is about Yuri Katsuki, a 23 year old figure skater. At the the beginning of the series he suffers a major defeat, coming in last at a Grand Prix competition. He moves back home to do some soul searching and decide whether to continue with his skating career. At the end of the episode he finds a new coach who wants to help him. The animation in the show is fluid and provides an great sense of grounding for the characters. The style for the opening is also really cool.

I can definitely feel the approach of Christmas coming, mostly in the fact that I'm becoming so busy with everything beside being geeky.  In addition to the usual holiday business, I'm also finding myself working an extreme amount of overtime in order to get my current design project out on time. The Professional Gamer - June 6, 2014

Hello Readers! Today is my birthday and I am old. Old as balls. But I'm still doing geeky things on a regular basis. Read on to learn what I'm doing this week.

Reading: I finished reading through The Hobbit today and started reading The Lord of the Rings. I still get choked up a little during the death of Thorin. Finishing one of Tolkien's books always leaves me feeling very satisfied, as though I have just eaten a filling and well-balanced meal. Onward I go through the quest to destroy the Ring.

Watching: This week we have been watching more of the original Star Trek. So far we have only watched the pilot ("The Cage") and the first episode ("The Man Trap"). So far I am enjoying it in spite of the sometimes cheesy effects.

Playing: In the same vein as Star Trek: The Original Series, I've reinstalled Star Trek Online. At this point, it has been so long since I played last, that I decided to start a new character so that I can go through the tutorial mode again. Currently I'm still stuck in my starter ship, but I'm making good progress. At this point, I'm not sure why I quit playing several years ago. I'm sure I'll be reminded as I continue playing.
