This Weeks Geek - Console Wars: A New Battlefield

A new generation appears to be upon us. Nintendo is out of the gate early with a much need upgrade to its console library. Not to be outdone Microsoft and Sony are hot on their heels. Microsoft is being more closed lip about almost everything they are doing, while Sony has recently started teasing that they are going to announce something new and interesting. But what if the next generation is not all about local based consoles? What if this is all about something else? Something far more ethereal?

The console market is changing.

New Wii U Bundle Coming Soon

Good things come for those who wait. Are you still on the fence about buying the newest Nintendo console?  Well, Nintendo hopes to help make your decision in their favor with a new Wii U bundle available Sunday February 17th.  The exclusive bundle entitled, The Wii U ZombiU Deluxe Set, will include a Deluxe Wii U (32GB), a Pro Controller, a copy of ZombiU with an art book and developer commentary, a download of Nintendo Land and enrollment in the Deluxe Digital Promotion.  The MSRP for the new bundle is $390.  Since launching last November, Nintendo has sold 3 million Wii U units.  I can only imagine Nintendo is trying to attract gamers to their system before the potential unveiling of both the PS3 and XBOX 360 successors in the coming weeks.  Will you be going out and purchasing this new bundle, are you still hesitant on shelling out your hard earned money on a system that is losing exclusive rights to video games (Rayman Legends), or are you content without having the Wii U in your collection?

Fire Emblem 3DS Bundle

On February 4th, 2013 the latest in the Fire Emblem series comes in the United States. Fire Emblem Awakening will continue the turn based series by following Lord Chrom and how he gathers an army of companions to save the world from a rising evil. Man does that sound like an over used plot device. But lets admit, it is not the destination we play games for, it is the journey. In this tradition choices you make have an effect on the game play. Say there is a character that you have become really attached to and then they die in battle? Well they are dead for the rest of the game, so be careful.

Well the release is part of a 3DS bundle. And this bundle, like a number of other bundles it has a special design on it. This blue 3DS has a freaking dragon on it. I don't even play my current 3DS and I want this bundle. Look forward to it at an MSRP of $199.99 in a few weeks. This Weeks Geek - End of Year

Yes, we are still alive over hear at Gameslave HQ, and we even managed to survive the holidays. So now that the chaos is mostly over I have taken a few moments to collect my thoughts about 2012. This has been a good year for gaming. We have had some great games and some fun controversies (as fun as they could be). Unfortunately we have also some of the most ridiculous things from people that just don't know better. What were some of my favorites this year? Well hold your horses and I will tell you.

Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze - Review

Lets start this with a little background. Monster High is a Mattel property focused towards, what I am guessing, young girls. More on it can be found at the official site. Seeing that I do not have any kids this made reviewing Monster High: Skultimate Roller Maze for the Wii and DS a tough order. It is obviously not pointed towards me, but I enjoy a challenge. So I popped the game in and started my first journey into this world of teen monsters.

More Wii Bundles

It appears that Nintendo is not going to let the Wii go quietly into the dark. Just a short time ago they announced a price drop and a new bundle for those that had yet to purchase a Wii, and now they have added fuel to that fire.  Today Nintendo has announced two more Wii bundles.

The first of these bundles is a White Wii that will come with a matching Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck as well as Ubisofts Just Dance 4. This bundle has an MSRP of $129.99. The other bundle is a blue Wii with matching Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuck. Its big difference is that it will come with Skylanders Giant, one portal of power, two Skylanders characters and one exclusive Giant Skylander. This system has an MSRP of $149.99 attached to it. More money for more physical items I supposed.

Both of these bundles are set to be in stores on Nov 4, 2012 and will be availble in limited quantities. At least that is how I read "while supplied last" in the press release. What the starting supplies are though is anybody guess.
