Playstation E3 2018 Showcase

Sony is the second longest running console manufacturer that is in the game now. Over the past year I have started to play more Sony titles thanks to their support of the single-player story experience, something I rather enjoy. So what did they show at their briefing this year? Let's take a look.

Cari's E3 2017 Review

Cari's E3 2017 Review

Hey Guys, Cari here and I’m reporting on E3 2017 after returning from L.A. I don’t have a ton to report this year but here are my first impressions of the things that I saw. Day one I got to see Natsume’s booth, DISSIDIA FINAL FANTASY NT, and Marvel versus Capcom. (I saw many things including gaming setups and technology and there were a ton of games showcased this year, these are what I got my hands on). Day two was very light, I played Super Mario Odyssey and Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, and watched Chris play some Knack II. Day three I played Lego Dimensions and Sonic Forces.

Knack II - Co-op

Knack II - Co-op

Co-op + platformer is an ancient combination. The earliest on I remember playing was the first Toe Jam and Earl  for the Sega Genesis. Since then it has been done and done again. As such it can be hard to make good on any new entry in the genre. But Knack 2  seems to do a decent job.

Monster Hunter World

Watched the Monster Hunter World  gameplay demo at the PlayStation booth. It was an impressive demo. It started on a single player mode showcasing how to track monsters given a little information. On this case we were told to search for mucus that identified the creature's territory. From their special tracking flies were able to find more mucus, and eventually our monster. This feature looks like it can greatly reduced the time searching and increase the time fighting.

Playstation E3 2017 Conference

Last night was the Playstation E3 2017 Conference.  This conference was much different from the other presentations. Instead of having someone on the stage talking things up they let the games speak for themselves. It was essentially an intro followed by a bunch of trailers followed by a closing short speach. So what all did they show?

E3 From the Show Floor - Scavenger (PSVR)

A large focus of E3 this year is VR, and Sony is pushing it big time. I had my first VR experience with a game that is part of VR Worlds, Scavenger. The game was actually a bunch of fun. In the demo you were in a mech running around the outside of a ship that is pretty destroyed. To get around you can jump along pieces or hull. Once inside you have to make your way through the ship while shooting hundreds of tiny bugs and a few large bugs that shoot acid type stuff. You looked to aim which actually felt really natural. All in all if I do get Playstation VR this game will be on that list. Just need to watch out for motion sickness.

Review - Need for Speed Rivals

Review - Need for Speed Rivals

Do you feel the need? The need for speed? OK, I have that out of my system, lets move on. This season EA released the next iteration in the Need for Speed series, Need for Speed Rivals. Your canvas is the majestic Redview County, which is remarkable diverse. There are snow capped mountains, twisting passes, seaside villages, freeways that are under construction and a desert / canyon. This gives you a great diversity of areas to drive, each with it's own pros and cons. Will you stick to the twisting roads and out maneuver your rival? Or will you go for the long straightaways and out run them?

The Last of Us

Naughty Dog's newest creation, The Last of Us is set to come out right in the middle of E3 on June 14th. First time I saw it I could have sworn it was a new Uncharted game, but no. This game shows what would really happen in an apocalypse. People will do what it takes to survive, morals be damned.
