The Professional Gamer - January 23, 2015

Hi readers! My big project is done, and I've had some more time for enjoying life again.  With that said, I've played a good bit of video games this week, and discovered a very strange anime.  Read on to learn what I did this week.

Reading: While in the midst of my giant project, I decided to start reading David Willis's new(ish) comic, Dumbing of Age.  Many years ago, I regularly read Shortpacked!, but stopped several years ago.  I don't remember the exact reasons, but I recall feeling tired of the "wacky hijinks" plot style.  In either case, I'm enjoying the new comic a lot more.  Willis actually examines some difficult subject matter in a way that is both sensitive and humorous.  I would recommend giving it a shot.

Watching: Crystal and I watched the latest episode of Sailor Moon Crystal this weekend.  Boy has the lazy animation continued!  This series showed some decent promise at the beginning, but has rapidly gone downhill in terms of production value.  I'll try to needle Crystal into writing a more detailed review of the series, since she is familiar with every iteration of Sailor Moon.  Crystal and I also found and watched the first episode of Cute High Earth Defense Club Love.  I'm not sure where this is going, but it is basically a Magical Boy anime.  We'll see how it goes.  I'm hoping that this turns out to be a great satire series.  Currently, 3 episodes are available on CrunchyRoll.

Playing: Crystal and I continue our play through of Hyrule Warriors.  At this point, we only have a few Heart Containers and Skulltullas to collect on the main adventure map, and have shifted our attention to the Master Quest and Twilight maps.  What have I learned?  The Twilight map is incredibly difficult as you get further in.  Even Sheik at level 110 couldn't help us on that map.  We'll keep exploring and pushing at the boundaries of the map.

That's it for this week.  I've got a tight schedule next week, but should still have some time to enjoy myself.  Until then, Game On!
