Wizards to buy D&D Beyond

Wizards of the Coast is apparently buying the popular online tool D&D Beyond. I am not going to lie, my first thought at this news was “Didn’t Wizards already own D&D Beyond?” But apparently I was wrong. Fandom is the current owner of the valuable digital tool set that has increased the accessibility of the role playing game, and pending approval, will make $146.3 million in cash from the sell. But the important question in all this, what does that mean to us, the players.

The Professional Gamer - January 10, 2020

Hello and Happy New Year! I hope everyone else had a good break for the holidays and didn’t have too rough of a time coming back to work full-time again. If, on the other hand, you are somehow still on holidays, just don’t tell me and pretend that things are too rough. I’ve been back at work for a week now and starting to get back into the normal swing of things. I did take most of Monday just to catch up on email and then the rest of the week working on partially completed projects from before my break. But you probably don’t want to hear about that. You’d rather hear about what I did during break, right?

Sorry about that late post last week: I was having trouble with Twitter plugin for Squarespace (now resolved), and just not been able to find the time to get things fixed and posted. And, of course that means that I haven’t had a lot of time to do fun things either. Instead, I was traveling for work, and then having meetings in several evenings. What did I actually do for fun this week? Played some D&D and finished watching Good Omens. Oh, and a little bit of watching Crystal play Dragon Quest Builders 2. Let’s talk about all of those things.

Hi friends, thanks for reading. I’m putting this post together on May 24, but delaying it so that you have something fresh to read on Tuesday once you get back from the Memorial Day holiday. I think that make me a thoughtful person who cares about your entertainment and emotional well-being. Also, in the much more cavalier sense, it greatly increases the chances that this will end up in front of your eyeballs. I would be lying if I said that audience and reach wasn’t something that I think about sometimes. Anyways, let’s talk about some geeky stuff.

Hello and welcome to a new installment of The Professional Gamer. I have some stories to tell for this week. I’ve had some issues with my knee while running, and went in for some physical therapy this week. In fact, I went in for two rounds of physical therapy, which honestly feels like it might have been too much. I think I’m seeing a little progress with my knee already though, which is super promising. But, with all the exercising that I’m doing along with the PT, I haven’t had as much time to geek out. So, let’s talk about the little bit that I have done.

Ah, hello there readers. I’ve had a low key week here, not doing a whole of geeky stuff. For one thing, I spent Thursday and Friday away from home, and wasn’t in the mood for anime on Monday when Mob Psycho 100 was released. All I really did was watch the last season of Legend of Korra and started reading through the Hoard of the Dragon Queen module for a D&D game that I’m planning. As I writing this article on Friday night, I’m looking forward to two D&D games this weekend. One, a homebrew campaign that is more on the silly and fun end of the spectrum. The second game is running the Curse of Stradh module. In both cases, I feel like I’ve finally learned who my characters are, and I have a much deeper attachment to them compared to earlier characters in other games.
